Sunrise, about 6, on Friday and Saturday
If macro photography is your thing then the North Mountain Park Nature Center (http://www.ashland.or.us/Page.asp?NavID=13786) field trip is for you. Lots of insects, amphibians, and by the time of convention, leaves will be starting their migration to autumn colors. There is never a guarantee, but NMPNC is usually a good birding location.
Located next to Bear Creek, the Park encompasses the Nature Center, Demonstration Gardens, ponds and several acres of wildlife-friendly open space and trails. Typically there will be a good number of deer and smaller critters to greet you.
Two trips: Sunrise, about 6, on Friday and Saturday. Neal Thompson will be on hand to discuss macro techniques.
